Alena Skarina

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Alëna Skarina is an award-winning freelance illustrator and fine artist, born in Siberia, Russia in 1986. After moving to Canada in 1999, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in illustration at the Ontario College of Art and Design. When Alëna was 17, she was picked up by a renowned Toronto-based illustration agency – Reactor Art & Design, who have been representing her ever since. Refined line work is an essential attribute in Alëna’s work, which is executed with a lot of thought and precision. Unique hand done typography, organic, and sensual subject matter are some of Alëna’s favorite pursuits when it comes to illustration. After growing up in what could be described as a ‘domestic zoo’, Alëna’s constant exposure to animals has led to a deep affinity with them, expressed in her personal artwork. (more…)

German artist Andreas Preis decided to do something with his weakness for drawing and colors. In 2004, he moved to Nuremberg to study communications design. After an internship with Springer&Jacoby in 2007 he realized that advertising wouldn’t be his favourite field of work. It was then he started to become a little bit more artistic and free. In 2009 he finished his studies and started to work as a free designer and illustrator. His illustration style is a mixture of digital and traditional art, combining hand-drawings, cross-hatching and real colours with the possibilities of Photoshop. He loves to make portraits, always trying to find some depth in his models. (more…)

Kordian Lewandowski 01

I come from Poland. In 2008, I completed my Intermedia studies at the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Poland. I am involved in drawing, sculpture, computer graphics, artistic film, painting, and a bit in music. For a long time I was mostly interested in hyperrealism. My drawings based on photography and printing technology come from that period. So do my spatial “photographic sculptures” – results of the observation of a model from two static points. Currently I’m also into 3D sculptures (Zbrush) and Flash animation. (more…)
