Australian artist Erin Smith uses individual letters to create a visual journal that explores the idea that words can have many different meanings, and can be associated with a number of different objects, all of which are dependent on the viewer. In the creation of image through letters there will forcibly be large amounts of white space and it is often this negative space that defines, and informs the meaning. This is also true in the spoken word; often it is what we do not say, rather than what we do that defines us. (more…)
